Former Breast Cancer Network of Strength Chattanooga Affiliate Executive Director Debbi Hampton Authors Breast Cancer Book
Former Breast Cancer Network of Strength Chattanooga Affiliate Executive Director and breast cancer survivor Debbi Hampton recently published a book, Slapped Awake. When a diagnosis of breast cancer upended her life in her early 40's, Debbie Hampton found herself confronted not only with medical and treatment issues, but larger issues about what it means to be a woman, to be fully alive, and to make sense of suffering and adversity. The persistence of her breast cancer over a decade has forced her to forge a relationship with her disease and to create a life that includes the presence of cancer as a partner. Her honesty, courage, and humor in this journey provide one woman's map into enemy territory and a guide to befriending an adversary.
