Join Network of Strength Illinois for our 2008 fall fundraiser “The Journey Continues” aboard The Odyssey II cruise ship on Sunday, September 14th!
The cruise will leave from Navy Pier at noon and give each guest a stunning view of Chicago’s skyline from Lake Michigan. Enjoy a three-course meal, live music and dancing, a special program and a great opportunity to meet other Network of Strength supporters. Parking will be available at Navy Pier.

Raffle tickets will be sold in advance and on-board for $10 or three for $25. Prizes include:
• Two international or domestic round-trip airline tickets from American Airlines

• And so much more!
Lunch will be prepared on board by the chef of The Odyssey II and includes two drinks, a salad, choice of Asian Grilled Salmon or Beef Short Ribs, coffee and a dessert station. People with special dietary needs or restrictions should contact Network of Strength for alternative choices.

Play ball!! On Saturday, August 23, 2008, join us for a day of fun, softball, and friendly competition at Alderman Ginger Rugai’s 14th Annual Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois Softball Tournament.
This tournament takes place all day at St. Christina Fields and Mt. Greenwood Park at 111th Street and Central Park Ave. The deadline for signing up to play is Wednesday, August 13, 2008. The fee is $35 per person; $525 per team (15 person minimum per team). Players must be 25 years of age or over. Participants receive a t-shirt, lunch and refreshments – as well as the satisfaction of providing support to individuals who are facing breast cancer today!
Spectators are admitted free. Please come and cheer on your favorite team and/or player!

Schedule for the day:
7:00 a.m.- Registration 1
8:00 a.m.- Game 1
10:00a.m.- Registration 2
11:00 a.m.- Game 2
Noon- Celebrity Game on the main field; raffle prizes drawn
* Spectators are welcome and it is free to get in to the tournament! Raffle tickets will be sold all day- don’t miss out on your chance to win fabulous prizes!
Players must be 25 years of age or over- identification will be checked .
To accommodate those who will participate more for the fun than the competition, and to accommodate the yearly increase in the number of teams, the format will be two (2) game Powder Puff games with an A and a B division. If the number of teams is lower, we will use the double-elimination format. Every year there has been an increase in the B Division teams, so the prize money will be the same in both divisions A and B. 1st Place team in both divisions will receive a cash prize of $500.00
ACCEPTANCE IS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.
Only participants are guaranteed a t-shirt, lunch and refreshments. Please note, this tournament gets bigger every year (62 teams last year) and in order to accommodate everyone we need to hear from you, and receive your money by Wednesday August 13th, 2008.
Captain’s Meeting
Once again we will be having a mandatory captain’s meeting the night before the tournament, Friday August 22nd , at 7:00 p.m. at St. Christina Field on 111th Central Park. Every captain is required to attend. If the captain can’t make it, a representative is necessary, and we ask that you bring a used softball to the meeting so we can use them the next day for the tournament.
