YourShoes Peer Counselor

Must be a breast cancer survivor one year out of treatment.

Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking breast cancer survivors to fill volunteer positions as On-Call Peer Counselors through YourShoes™, a 24/7 breast cancer support center staffed by trained breast cancer survivors who know first-hand what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone who is facing the disease. The volunteer position will be responsible for answering YourShoes calls during designated shifts either at home or through an affiliate office. >>Learn more about this opportunity.

YourShoes Match Peer Counselor

Must be a breast cancer survivor one year out of treatment.

Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking breast cancer survivors to fill volunteer positions as Match Peer Counselors through YourShoes™, a 24/7 breast cancer support center staffed by trained breast cancer survivors who know first-hand what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone who is facing the disease. The volunteer position will be responsible for responding to callers who wish to speak to someone who has had a similar breast cancer experience. >>Learn more about this opportunity.

YourShoes Partner Match Peer Counselor

Must be the spouse or partner of an individual diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking partners or spouses of breast cancer survivors to fill volunteer positions as Partner Match Peer Counselors through YourShoes™, a 24/7 breast cancer support center staffed by trained breast cancer survivors and their partners/spouses who know first-hand what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone who is facing the disease. Network of Strength's services also extend to those who are supporting a loved one through breast cancer. YourShoes Support Center callers can request to be paired with a spouse/partner peer counselor who has also supported a wife, spouse/partner or other loved one through the disease. The volunteer position will be responsible for responding to callers who wish to speak to someone who has had a similar breast cancer experience. >>Learn more about this opportunity.

Support Group Facilitator

Must be a breast cancer survivor one year out of treatment or a health care professional.

Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking breast cancer survivors or health care professionals to fill volunteer positions as peer support group facilitators. The volunteer will be responsible for organizing, managing and facilitating a Network of Strength peer support group in their community. >>Learn more about this opportunity.

Open Door Facilitator

Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking breast cancer advocates to fill volunteer positions as Open Door facilitators. The volunteer will be responsible for organizing, managing and coordinating Network of Strength Open Door educational sessions in their community. >>Learn more about this opportunity.

Breast Health Educator

Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking breast cancer advocates to fill volunteer positions as breast health educators. The volunteer will be responsible for organizing and presenting Network of Strength educational programs in their community. >>Learn more about this opportunity.

Special Events

Volunteers are always needed to assist with Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois's events, including Mother's Day events, gala parties, fundraising events, and much more. Doing so often involves sharing information about the various programs of Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois.

Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois Representative

Volunteers are needed to represent Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois at various community functions such as health fairs, volunteer fairs and community festivals. They offer basic information about Breast Cancer Network of Strength’s services and help to raise breast cancer awareness.

Advocacy

Advocacy Network Members receive alerts via e-mail, fax or phone with timely information about contacting local, state and/or federal elected officials when important breast cancer-related legislation is under consideration. >>Learn more about how you can impact breast cancer legislation.

Office and Clerical

Volunteers are needed during office hours (M-F, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) for various office projects, including mailings, word processing, filing, data entry, etc.

Breast Health Awareness Workshop Presenter

Volunteers facilitate workshop that discusses the three methods of early detection, important information about breast health and the process flow of a breast cancer diagnosis.
