Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking breast cancer survivors to fill volunteer positions as On-Call Peer Counselors through YourShoes™, a 24/7 breast cancer support center staffed by trained breast cancer survivors who know first-hand what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone who is facing the disease. Breast Cancer Network of Strength is seeking partners or spouses of breast cancer survivors to fill volunteer positions as Partner Match Peer Counselors through YourShoes™, a 24/7 breast cancer support center staffed by trained breast cancer survivors and their partners/spouses who know first-hand what it is like to walk in the shoes of someone who is facing the disease. Network of Strength's services also extend to those who are supporting a loved one through breast cancer. YourShoes Support Center callers can request to be paired with a spouse/partner peer counselor who has also supported a wife, spouse/partner or other loved one through the disease. Volunteers are always needed to assist with Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois's events, including Mother's Day events, gala parties, fundraising events, and much more. Doing so often involves sharing information about the various programs of Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois.
Volunteers are needed to represent Breast Cancer Network of Strength Illinois at various community functions such as health fairs, volunteer fairs and community festivals. They offer basic information about Breast Cancer Network of Strength’s services and help to raise breast cancer awareness.
Advocacy Network Members receive alerts via e-mail, fax or phone with timely information about contacting local, state and/or federal elected officials when important breast cancer-related legislation is under consideration. >>Learn more about how you can impact breast cancer legislation.
Volunteers are needed during office hours (M-F, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) for various office projects, including mailings, word processing, filing, data entry, etc.
Volunteers facilitate workshop that discusses the three methods of early detection, important information about breast health and the process flow of a breast cancer diagnosis.
