Camp Hope

Network of Strength

Upcoming sessions

Dates for Camp Hope 2010 are March 27, April 17, June 19, October 9 and November 6.

Camp Hope is a special event for breast cancer survivors. Although there is an agenda, the camp is created to be a relaxing day focusing on the survivor’s enjoyment. Each camp goes from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and follows the same agenda outline but may vary by activity, facilitators and presenters. The camps are currently being held in a log cabin on the grounds of the Hope Unitarian Church in Tulsa at 8432 S. Sheridan Rd.

Some of the creative activities that have been offered in the past:
Painting flower pots
Frame painting
Faux painting
Embossing
Designing wreaths for the season Scrapbooking
Arranging cut flowers
Journaling
Quilting squares
Beading/jewelry making

The camps are currently funded by grants and there is no charge to the camper.

This special event is for breast cancer survivors only. To preserve the camp’s intimacy, a limited number of campers can participate in any one session. Call Debbie Russell at (918) 605-0228 or email drussell@amcmtg.com.

Some comments by former campers (evaluations are distributed before leaving):
Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. The massage was great. This was my first time and the friendliness of everyone was important to me.
I liked visiting with all the survivors.
I liked the activities, getting away for a whole day and the door prizes!
The satisfaction of sharing information. And of course, the food.
