When you call the Breast Cancer Network of Strength's YourShoes 24/7 Breast Cancer Support Center, you can request to be paired with a peer counselor who had the same diagnosis, is the same age or has experienced similar challenges as you. The confidential, free-of-charge service is available to anyone who calls the Hotline.
Newly diagnosed individuals may feel alone and overwhelmed by the changes in their lives. Breast Cancer Network of Strength peer counselors have experienced those emotions and have coped with them. Now they’re here to help you by providing immediate emotional relief, support and information that only someone who has experienced breast cancer firsthand can offer. By speaking with a match peer counselor, you will find a person who has walked more than a mile in your shoes and can help you through the experience.
No! Anyone who would like to talk to a person with a specific set of circumstances is welcome to participate. Network of Strength match peer counselors understand all stages and types of breast cancer and have had many different life experiences.
Most situations have been addressed by our match peer counselors. Common topics and circumstances include:
Young mother with children
Elderly woman who feels alone
Man who is newly diagnosed
Someone with inflammatory breast cancer
An individual with metastasis to the bones
Variations on the above and more
Don't hesitate to call the free-of-charge YourShoes Support Center at 1-800-221-2141 anytime and the peer counselor who answers your call will be able to help you.
